A Non-Profitier.

I'm so exhausted, I can fall over. These last couple of days have been kind of a rushed blur. As a graduate student, such a stable schedule is quite daunting and overwhelming. Despite my immediate exhaustion, I'm incredibly grateful to have this opportunity to work with CAUSE and LEAP. Usually, I'm somewhat apprehensive in new situations and environments but everyone involved has been so warm and beautifully kind. The retreat was intense but a wonderful learning experience. As a steady relater in my own little box, I realized how dynamic and engaging we are as a group. I was astonished how efficient we were in our different activities. I guess the only problematic thing that happened was being gawked at by the locals of Lake Arrowhead. It is what is, I guess?

As for my internship at CAUSE, let me see...My supervisor, Lisa (I'm still getting use to calling her by my name, ha ha) is nice and has been receptive in the discussions we've had so far. For my internship, I will be start the beginning stages of the Political Institute, a yearly event that CAUSE has not put on since 2006. Simply, the Political Institute is a forum where different political officials in the Asian American community come together to discuss the topic at hand. Right now, I'm researching to write a proposal about possible topics. I will be presenting these ideas at a upcoming board meeting. BAH! Well, I'm kind of nervous but I kind of comfortable with doing public speaking activities. Personality wise, I'm kind of shy but I seem to overcome those personal circumstances when I have to present research. I tend to get attached and my enthusiasm becomes visible in my speaking. I also have to prepare the logistics of the event by looking at various venues, budget planning, and other task related to this preparation. I don't thrive in event planning but I feel this is a great opportunity for me to learn.

I hope everyone else is learning and loving their respective internship assignments. I look forward to our Fridays together especially when...
